This DO, which is located in the province of Lleida, is made up of several sub-zones, all with their own types of soil and climatic characteristics. The grapes grown for wine are also very diverse, which makes it possible to obtain very varied wines. The reds are produced with prestigious grapes, such as Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Ull de Llebre, the whites with Parellada, Macabeu or certain varieties of Chardonnay. Sparkling wines are also produced in the area using native varieties such as Xarel.lo, Macabeu and Parellada.
