Fruit liqueurs originate from the Germanic countries, they are produced in large quantities in Germany, Austria, Alsace, Lorraine and Switzerland. Normally, traditional "Schnapps" should not have sugar added, although some industrial producers do. The best known fruit liqueurs are the tasty Teichenne, made in Spain following traditional recipes.
